This workshop will focus on basic yoga alignment points and provide you with the tools for a safe and skillful practice. Balance strength and flexibility, safeguard your joints, and learn how to undo incorrect postural habits that could lead to injury.
We will start off with a Vinyasa Flow that includes hands-on adjustments to warm up the body, and then delve into the workshop portion. We will study standard classical yoga postures that are the foundation for all levels of yoga practice, and examine how these poses can be modified for your body. You will receive detailed corrections and learn how to self-correct alignment. Knowing the alignment principles of these postures will allow you to practice and reach more advanced poses – you build on the basics anytime you advance in yoga.
This workshop is ideal for beginner and experienced practitioners alike. It is designed for you if:
- You want to understand how precise alignment can help you feel more comfortable in your body and in your yoga practice.
- You want to really ‘get’ the basic poses in yoga (these poses aren’t necessarily easy or simple, but they are the foundation of all other poses).
- You want to use the knowledge you gain about yoga alignment to take your practice to the next level – whatever that is for you: whether it means finding relief from pain, practicing with greater body awareness, flowing through class with more ease, or playing in more advanced postures.
Don’t forget to bring a yoga mat and a water bottle!

About the instructor:
Nour Elise earned her 500hr Yoga Teacher Training from Yoga Vida in NYC, where she trained with many of New York’s most skilled and highly respected yoga teachers and yoga therapists. With training in Iyengar yoga, anatomy and yoga therapeutics under her belt, she is excited to help students deepen their practice by learning about proper alignment.
