In July 2025, Basel took centre stage in European women’s football, shining as a key Host City of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. Both the opening match and the final were held at St. Jakob-Park, establishing Basel as the tournament’s main stage.

With 34,203 spectators at the final, Basel recorded the highest single-match attendance of EURO 2025, contributing significantly to the tournament’s overall success. With a total of 657,291 visitors, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 became the most attended UEFA Women’s European Championship of all time.
