The BaselCard is offered as a free bonus with every booking at a Basel hotel. You will receive your personal guest card when you check in, and you can also load it to your smartphone as a web app.
The BaselCard app works mostly offline and offers the same free services and discounts. In its electronic version, the guest card also features an interactive city map.

Free use of public transport
Throughout your entire stay (maximum of 30 days), the BaselCard entitles you to ride on all public transport in Basel – including your initial journey to your hotel. It allows you to use second-class public transport in the city of Basel and the surrounding area (TNW zones 10, 11, 13/EuroAirport, 14 and 15 = area of validity same as the Basel day ticket).

Free Wi-Fi at various hotspots
When you stay overnight in Basel, you will get free access to Wi-Fi hotspots located throughout the city centre. You will receive access information with your BaselCard.
The Guest Wi-Fi Basel is available at various locations close to major sights and squares in the city.

How to surf the Guest Wi-Fi Basel:
To use wireless Internet access, you need to register once at one of the hotspots listed on the city map. Then there’s just three steps to getting online:
- Connect to the network “Guest Wi-Fi Basel”.
- Enter your access code on the landing page under “Wi-Fi Login”.
- You can now surf free of charge at all hotspots on the city map.

Every visitor who stays overnight in the canton of Basel-Stadt receives one BaselCard per person per night in return for paying city tax.
Exception: in accordance with the city tax legislation, residents of the canton of Basel-Stadt are not subject to city tax and are therefore not entitled to the BaselCard.

Yes, guests staying at Airbnbs in Basel-Stadt also get a BaselCard.

The BaselCard is valid for the entire duration of your stay – for a maximum of 30 days.

You cannot claim the 50% discount more than once per service. The free services are available throughout your stay (max. 30 days).

No, the BaselCard has only been available to overnight visitors to the canton of Basel-Stadt since 1 January 2018. Visitors who do not stay in the canton of Basel-Stadt do not pay city tax and are therefore not entitled to a BaselCard.

The booking confirmation of your hotel or Airbnb in Basel serves as a free ticket for the transfer from the airport to your hotel.
If you do not have a confirmation, please buy a ticket for 3 zones at the ticket machine.

No, the BaselCard is only valid as far as the border. A cross-border ticket can be purchased at ticket machines.
