* Basel-Stadt
The Canton of Basel-Stadt levies a city tax on guests. The revenue from the city tax is used to create and maintain the tourist infrastructure. Residents of the canton and children aged 11 and under are exempt from the tax. Persons staying at the same accommodation for more than 30 days do not pay the city tax as of the 31st day. All hotel guests who pay the city tax will receive a BaselCard. You can use the BaselCard to travel free of charge on public transport in Basel (zones 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15) and take advantage of attractive cultural and leisure offers. Children aged 11 and under receive the BaselCard free of charge.
** Basel-Landschaft
All guests staying overnight who pay the city tax receive the Mobility-Ticket and guest pass (2 in 1), which entitles them to use trains, buses and trams in the area of the Northwest Switzerland tariff association (Tarifverbund Nordwestschweiz) free of charge for the duration of their stay and also offers discounts on various establishments.
