Die Helmut Förnbacher Theater Company

This ensemble owes its name to the actor and director Helmut Förnbacher, who founded it in 1980 in Basel’s Elisabethenkirche. The company had called the Förnbacher Theater, located in the former customs hall at Badischer Bahnhof Basel, home for 25 years, but now it’s had to leave it due to lengthy construction work by Deutsche Bahn. This means that the company is without a base for the time being. As a result, it’s sharing its works – comedies, classics, contemporary pieces and musicals – as guest performances at other theatres.
