Anyone arriving in Basel by train passes by colourful lettering just before entering the station. Since the 1980s, the area between Basel's main station and almost as far as the Schwarzwaldbrücke has featured works by countless graffiti artists from all over Europe. Basel's "line" is both famous and infamous in the international graffiti scene, and artists risk their necks here in order to paint their texts so close to the railway tracks. But it's not dangerous to admire the art: the best view of the colourful stretch of railway line is from Singerstrasse, the Gellert bridge or St. Albanteich-Promenade.
