Enjoy a Glühwein at the Christmas Pyramid
A popular meeting point at the Basel Christmas market is the Christmas pyramid. With its 13 meters in height, it is visible from afar and the attractive range of hot drinks invites guests to stay and enjoy. Also numerour other stands offer culinary delights such as waffles, genuine Basel Läckerli, delicious Swiss raclette or the popular grilled sausages.
Write your Advent wishes in the Basel wish book
For the 25th time the traditional Basel Wish Book will once again be openly accessible in the inner courtyard of the Town Hall for all members of the public – both local residents and visitors from around the world – to add their Advent wishes. Over the entire Christmas period and into the new year visitors can fill the book with their private thoughts, wish-lists for Santa Claus and hopes for peace, love and good health. Visit the Christmas fairy-tale forest
In the Christmas fairy-tale forest on the Münsterplatz, children (and adults) can make, pour and decorate candles, make torches, forge metal objects, decorate gingerbread, eat campfire bread and drink hot chocolate, ride on the kiddies’ train, bake cookies, pour tin, visit the star workshop, make Christmas floral decorations, have a go on the wheel of fortune, mint coins and much more besides.
Visit the Advent Calendar at Theater Basel
Friday, 01.12., to Saturday, 23.12.17
The Theater Basel opens one of the little windows in its special Advent calendar every day. Every evening visitors are delighted by a little literary or musical surprise in the foyer at 5 pm. Free admission.
Night-time tower climb at Basel cathedral
Monday, 03.12., to Friday, 21.12.18, 4–6 pm
During the Advent period, the stairwell of the Martin's tower will be illuminated between 4 and 6 pm (from Monday to Friday), providing a unique view over the Christmas lights in the city. Admission: CHF 5 per person. Last entry: 5.30 pm
