“I simply love strolling around Basel with my camera and being inspired by the city. My path often takes me to the banks of the Rhine.”

Why I love Basel
“Basel is a vibrant city. The Rhine promenade and the parks are popular with people who enjoy spending their free time outdoors in all seasons. It is a small city that is easy to find your way around, with all the benefits of a metropolis. Basel is both modern and traditional. The architecture of its many old buildings creates a wonderful urbanscape.”

“Basel has a number of interesting places that are lucrative hotspots for me. These include the areas around Marktplatz and the SBB railway station area, and the skies above the Rhine. I’ve become a passionate drone pilot, so a lot of my favourite places are in the air.”

Why I love Basel
“I was born in Basel, so I've been closely connected with the city for decades. Basel has something for everyone – residents and visitors alike – many cultural events, for example. No other European city offers so many museums in one place. Basel is also one of Switzerland’s architectural meccas, which has a positive influence on daily life here. Other things that I believe have a positive impact on our city include FC Basel, a well-known name in European football, and the Basel Fasnacht carnival.”

“There are a lot of great places in Basel. My favourites are the St. Alban-Tor gate and the old city walls in the «Dalbeloch», Kleinhüningen with the Three Countries Bridge, Heuberg with its narrow lanes, and of course the cathedral in the heart of Basel.”

Why I love Basel
“I love Basel, it has plenty to offer any time of the year. The unique Basel Fasnacht carnival to mark the end of winter, all the beautiful city parks in springtime, a cool dip in the Rhine in summer, and the Kleinbasel banks of the Rhine in autumn with a view of the cathedral. Basel can also keep up with other large cities when it comes to food, culture, architecture and football.”

“Usually it’s the weather or a spontaneous idea that provides the image for my next photo. But I’m often drawn to the Rhine. The reflections on the water in the evening with the atmospheric city lights in the background – I always find that fascinating!”

Why I love Basel
“Basel is lively and exciting, but it's also peaceful, highly innovative, yet steeped in tradition. A cultural mosaic, but still typically Swiss. Once you’ve arrived, you’ll never want to leave!”

“My favourite places in Basel are the Basel Rhine promenade and the Kleinbasler Old Town.”

Why I love Basel
“I love Basel because I grew up in this city. I like the diverse and ever-changing architecture the most. On the one hand, there is the old town of Basel with its wonderfully charming houses, as well as the modern architecture, which you can see from the Rhine promenade.”

“Of course I could recommend a walk along the banks of the Rhine during the golden hour to all visitors looking for an Insta hotspot in Basel – but that would definitely be too easy! Rather, I would encourage them to take the time to find their very own Insta spot in one of the countless and incredibly charming alleys of the Old Town.”

Why I love Basel
“Basel benefits from a unique balance: on the one hand, Basel is small enough to enable visitors to make a huge variety of discoveries in a very short time (e.g. during a weekend trip); on the other hand, thanks to the wide range of offers and the great diversity, there is enough to see during longer stays too – you could say that Basel is the ideal size.”
