Basel kicks off the Advent and Christmas season in style with ‘Ystimme’. The Christmas lights are switched on, SING!Basel sings Christmas carols, and there’s free mulled wine and punch to enjoy.
On Friday 20 November, from 5.30 pm, Basel will kick off the Advent and Christmas season in style with the ‘Ystimme’. Dr Conradin Cramer, President of the Cantonal Government, will switch on the Christmas lights, and SING!Basel will sing Christmas carols together with the audience, accompanied by free mulled wine and punch.

‘Ystimme’ marks the emotional start to Basel’s Christmas celebrations. Six days later, on Thursday 26 November 2026, the atmospheric Basel Christmas market on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz, the new ‘Wienachtsdorf am Theaterplatz’ and the ‘Adväntsgass’ in Rheingasse, Kleinbasel, will open.
