Sustainability is actively embraced in Basel – where the people, policies, authorities and institutions are wholly committed to giving the city a sustainable future. Important steps have already been taken, including Switzerland’s largest district heating network, a target of achieving net zero by 2037 and numerous other initiatives.
On our sustainability tour, you’ll learn about the historical developments that have led to the current situation, the efforts the city, canton and many other stakeholders are undertaking, and how local practices and measures fit in with the global context. The tour also sheds light on current challenges and sustainable approaches. The public tours are supported by "Amt für Umwelt und Energie Basel-Stadt".
