Frida Kahlo - Fondation Beyeler
The Fondation Beyeler presents Switzerland’s first major Frida Kahlo solo exhibition, featuring 50 paintings and 15 drawings, including iconic self-portraits and rarely seen works.
Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) is considered one of the most important female artists of the 20th century. Featuring approximately 50 paintings and 15 drawings, the exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler brings together about one-third of her entire body of work and offers a unique insight into her artistic practice.
The exhibition traces Frida Kahlo’s artistic development from the 1920s through the 1950s. The focus is on her iconic self-portraits as well as striking still lifes and portraits of family and friends. Her works blend personal experiences with dreams, imagination, and Mexican traditions.
As the first monographic exhibition of Frida Kahlo’s work in Switzerland, it offers a rare opportunity to discover numerous significant works by the artist in their original form.
