FILM PROGRAMME. «Pat-a-cake»

As part of “Culinary Infrastructures”, this film programme explores food, cooking and eating through themes of care work, memory, community, identity, abundance and consumption.
Who cooks? Who eats? And who ensures that food reaches the table in the first place? Behind these seemingly everyday questions lie structures of power, memory and forms of living together. Food is never merely sustenance – it connects care with labour, tradition with identity, and community with exclusion.
As part of the Kunsttage Basel project “Culinary Infrastructures”, this film programme brings together works from different decades and contexts that illuminate these relationships. The films unfold along three thematic strands: they explore the kitchen as a site of gendered care labour; consider cooking and eating as resources for memory and community; and examine abundance and consumption.
The films will be shown on a loop in the following running order
