Artist Talk with Ado & Comenius
Kunst Raum Riehen
Baselstrasse 71, 4125 Riehen
We cordially invite you to an artist talk with Ado Jahic and Comenius Röethlisberger, moderated by Simone Neuenschwander, curator.
As part of the exhibition “La Maison des Heures Perdues,” Simone Neuenschwander speaks with the artist duo Jahic/Roethlisberger. The Basel-based artist duo, Ado Jahic (*1975, Basel) and Comenius Roethlisberger (*1971, Basel), work together to explore chance and the unknown through various artistic media. In addition to philosophical questions about reality and the world, their assemblages, photographs, and objects imbue the processual and the imperfect with positive value.
Fundamental to their practice is also collaborating with other artists and cultural practitioners to develop a collective work. This collective approach is evident in their publication projects (Artist’s Recipes, 2018, MUSIC – A Conversation Through Song Titles, 2021), in exhibition projects such as the one at the Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger (2021), and in her project space Bolo Publishing at Spalenberg 64.
“La Maison des Heures Perdues” is a place where time leaves its mark. The exhibition brings together two groups of works by Ado & Comenius that, in different ways, explore transience and collective experience. Together, they create a space where memories are not preserved but are constantly being recreated: through light, materials, and encounters with visitors.
