Magical Courtyard Schmiedenhof
In the heart of the Old Town, the Schmiedenhof courtyard of the GGG City Library and Restaurant 1777 is transformed into a glowing refuge in the run-up to Christmas. This year, the magic courtyard is all about light and sound – a sensory experience for the eyes and ears.
A magnificent Christmas tree and small copses of illuminated fir trees lend a special glamour to the magical courtyard in the Schmiedenhof. A sleigh with reindeer, warming fire bowls and other festive decorations create the perfect atmosphere.
Basel choirs will also be bringing music to the Schmiedenhof this year:
– Youth choir ATempo! of the Basel Music School (conductor: Regina Hui & Maria Laschinger), 13 December 2025, 4.30 pm to 5.00 pm
– Basler Vokalensemble (conductor: Beat Kunz), 15 December 2025, 7.00 pm to 7.30 pm

Cosy tables invite you to linger and the team at Restaurant 1777 will spoil you with freshly prepared delicacies – the traditional white mulled wine is, of course, a must.
