It is hard to imagine Basel without this little gem of a vernacular theatre. Like the Rhine, the famous Basel Läckerli spiced biscuits or the Fasnacht carnival, it is one of those things that provides the city with a certain je ne sais quoi. The theatre group consists of around 100 volunteers who not only provide the actors and actresses on the stage, they also build the sets, operate the technical equipment and otherwise take care of the general running of the theatre.
