From 17 March to 21 July 2013, the Kunstmuseum Basel will be hosting a comprehensive retrospective, which has been compiled from various Basler collections. For the first time, prestigious Picassos from both the Kunstmuseum Basel and the Fondation Beyeler will be exhibited together. Works from local private collections will be displayed, some of which are being shown publicly for the first time and complement the Museum's collection perfectly. A documentary of films and photographs portray the legendary "Picasso Year", 1967, in which the public voted in a referendum to secure the two paintings "Les deux frères" and "Arlequin assist" for the Kunstmuseum. The retrospective "Louis Kahn, The Power of Architecture" presents around 40 selected buildings and projects based on historic and newly produced models, plans and original drawings, photographs and films.

Just because it makes you feel good? This and other questions are examined at this exhibition at the Museum der Kulturen.
Some types of behaviour that were previously classified as criminal have today been decriminalised. Other criminal acts, such as murder, have always been severely punished. This exhibition spans several centuries of criminality, crime and punishment. Many examples of crimes from different eras give valuable insights into life at that time, how criminals were treated and perceptions of guilt, law and justice.
Pre-conference courses will be offered covering a wide range of topics, all aligned with the Biosafety Professional Competence training specifications and, for the first time, some of the courses will span two days. In the main conference a wide range of high impact talks and breakout sessions will cover topics such as risk assessment, disinfection and technical aspects of biosafety.
