Information on the coronavirus (COVID-19)

Hotels, sights, museums, theatres, concert venues, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities welcome you to Basel. The following hygiene and safety measures are in place to keep locals and visitors safe.

People aged 12 years and older will be required to wear masks in the indoor and outdoor areas of all facilities and businesses accessible to the public and in public spaces where the social distancing rules cannot be complied with, in busy pedestrian zones, across the entire public transport network and in aircraft, at bus stations and tram stops, as well as in railway stations and airports.

Restaurants, cafés and bars will be able to reopen their outside seating areas from 19 April 2021. Please contact the restaurant directly for information on opening hours.

The indoor areas of hotel restaurants will remain open for hotel guests only.

From 19 April 2021, events will be permitted under certain conditions: the number of visitors is limited to 100 people at outdoor venues (e.g. open-air concerts) and 50 people indoors (e.g. theatres, concerts and cinemas). Guided city tours and museum tours take place with up to 15 people. Before your visit, please check the calendar of events or contact the respective organizer directly.

Outdoor gatherings of family and friends are limited to a maximum of 15 people.

Nightclubs remain closed.
