Information on the coronavirus (COVID-19)
Hotels, sights, museums, shops and leisure facilities welcome you to Basel. The following hygiene and safety measures are in place to keep locals and visitors safe.
People aged 12 years and older will be required to wear masks in the indoor and outdoor areas of shops, shopping centres and museums, in all other indoor places accessible to the public and in public spaces where the social distancing rules cannot be complied with, in busy pedestrian zones, across the entire public transport network and in aircraft, at bus stations and tram stops, as well as in railway stations and airports.
From 29 October 2020, nightclubs will stay closed. Restaurants and bars will be closed from 23 November to 13 December 2020.

When entering Switzerland from certain areas, it is compulsory to report to the cantonal authorities and to go into quarantine. The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) maintains a continuously updated list of these areas. The persons concerned will be informed in cross-border means of transport and at border crossings. Important: travellers must inquire with their national authorities about the exact travel conditions before starting their trip.

The public guided tours of Basel Tourism and group tours with a maximum of 15 participants are available. For bookings, cancellations of Basel Tourism products and services, please contact [email protected].
Events with up to 15 people as well are possible under certain conditions. Before your visit, please check the calendar of events or contact the respective organizer directly.

|Public city tour||The public city tour takes place bilingually (German/English): until 1 November 2020, it is available on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 7 November 2020 until further notice, it will take place on Saturdays only.|
|Oldtimer tram||The trips in the oldtimer tram won't take place until further notice.|
|Town Hall Tours||The public Town Hall tours take place on Saturdays. There is a limit to the number of participants (max. 10 persons) and the wearing of masks is compulsory.|
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, people over 12 years have to wear a mask during all guided tours.
Important: all tickets must be booked in advance, either online, via our Guest Service or the Tourist Information. Until further notice, it is not possible to buy tickets directly from the guide.
|Group guided tours||The number of participants in group guided tours is limited to a maximum of 15 people. In the case of individually booked group tours,the client is responsible for the tracing of the participants (list of participants).|
