Want to experience your home city from a new perspective? You’ll have an opportunity to do just that on two selected weekends in January – be it for a long weekend or straight after work on a Friday evening, treat yourself to an overnight stay at a hotel in your home city and discover Basel from a new perspective.

From 23 to 26 January and from 30 January to 2 February 2025, Basel residents will be able to stay in selected hotels at exclusive special prices.
“A guest in your own city” is our way of saying thank you to the residents of Basel who do so much to ensure that tourists from all over the world feel welcome in our city.
How to secure your hotel room deal
You’ll find a booking link on this page from 10 December 2024 onward, allowing you to reserve one of the coveted rooms at one of up to 40 participating hotels in Basel. The “A guest in your own city” promotion is aimed at Basel residents who live in a municipality with a postcode between 4000 and 4497. Bookings are limited to one per person.
The “A guest in your own city” promotion gives you the opportunity to stay overnight in one of many attractive one- to five-star hotels throughout the city for a special price – whether you’re on your own or booking as a couple.
- Stay overnight in a one- or two-star hotel for just CHF 69.
- Enjoy a stay in a three-star hotel for just CHF 99.
- Choose the comfort and quality of a superior three-star hotel or a four-star hotel for just CHF 119 or CHF 149.
- Experience luxury in a superior four-star hotel or a five-star hotel for just CHF 189 or CHF 299.
What’s included in the special price?
The special prices are for one night for a maximum of two people and include a welcome drink, breakfast and participation in “Em Bebbi sy Basel” – a guided tour of the city.

Treat yourself to a break in Basel! After a long day at work, you can head back to relax in your stylish hotel and enjoy the evening with your favourite drink at the bar. You needn’t worry about breakfast either, as a generous buffet will be ready for you in the morning before you embark on a voyage of discovery around Basel.

Double rooms as part of the "A guest in your own city" campaign are available on the weekends from January 23 to 26 and from January 30 to February 2 2025.

Around 40 Basel hotels are participating in the campaign. A list of participating hotels can be found via the booking link.

The offer is aimed at residents of postal code areas 4000 to 4497.

The special price applies per double room for two people. No discounts are available for children or single occupancy.

The price includes an overnight stay in a double room, a welcome drink, breakfast, and the city tour "Em Bebbi sy Basel." The visitor's tax of CHF 4.20 per person is not included and will be charged additionally.

Bookings can be made on this page via the booking link. Select the desired link for the respective weekend. Enter the preferred length of stay (a maximum of three nights, Thursday to Sunday) at the top left and click "Search." You can then choose your preferred hotel and complete the booking process. Please note that a room in the shopping cart is not exclusively reserved for you. Therefore, complete the booking promptly.

A credit card is required to guarantee the booking. Payment for the double room and the visitor's tax is made directly at the hotel during check-in.

The number of rooms available at the special price is limited per hotel. However, bookings can be made until the respective weekends as long as availability lasts.

Only hotels that currently have double rooms available at the special price are displayed in the booking options. Once a hotel is fully booked, it will no longer appear in the selection.

Cancellation of a reserved room is possible up to 48 hours before arrival. For later cancellations or no-shows, the full price for the first night will be charged. Please note that bookings cannot be transferred to other individuals.

Your booking confirmation or an email you will receive shortly before your arrival contains a link for registering for the free and optional city tour.

The city tour begins at the main portal of the Münster (Münsterplatz). Tours take place on Friday afternoons as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons.
