ZUSATZKONZERT Patricia Kopatchinskaja: Beethoven pur
Beethoven's violin sonatas show the violin to be on a par with the piano. Kopatchinskaja and Ahonen perform in an intensive dialog and merge into a tonal whole.
Patricia Kopatchinskaja, violin
Joonas Ahonen, piano
Beethoven titled most of the ten sonatas he dedicated to the violin "Sonatas for piano and violin accompaniment". A misnomer: the violin by no means plays a subordinate role as an accompanying instrument. Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Joonas Ahonen are in constant musical dialogue in this pure Beethoven program - and sound as one.
Ludwig van Beethoven:
Violin Sonata No. 2 in A major | Violin Sonata No. 5 in F major
Violin Sonata No. 6 in A major | Violin Sonata No. 10 in G major
