Our current exhibition features several fascinating sculptures produced by Vija Celmins (*1938) alongside her drawings and paintings. They bear an uncanny resemblance to real objects. Basel-based artist Vincent Kriste (*1979) also works with the phenomenon of illusion and trompe-l’œil. Using a wide array of experimental procedures, materials and techniques, his work is concerned with the very notion of painting itself. The workshop provides an opportunity to discover Kriste’s work on site in his studio and to try one’s hand at illusionistic painting. No prior knowledge required.
