Manifeste de Das Maddock
Theater Roxy
Muttenzerstrasse 6, 4127 Birsfelden
Film by Benjamin Burger and Dimitri Stapfer
Veranstaltungsdetails
It all begins in an empty theatre during the first lockdown in 2020. The planned guest performance of the play "The Maddock Manifesto" cannot take place. When it will play in front of an audience again is written in the stars at this point. Instead, Benjamin Burger, Dimitri Stapfer and a small film team lock themselves in ROXY Birsfelden for a fortnight and shoot a film.
Not a streaming version of the stage play, but a real film. They shoot on the ROXY stage, in the foyer, in the office, in the basement, the whole house becomes a film set. Later they go out of the theatre. They continue filming in the snow of the century in Ticino in the spring of 2021. After the premiere at the renowned Solothurn Film Festival in January this year, the film "The Maddock Manifesto" can now be seen once at the ROXY - where it all began.
In the film, Ben searches for a manuscript that is supposed to change the world and embarks on an odyssey. He encounters a flying fish, a telephone without a dial, an oracle called Enigma and a mystical canine figure in a deserted mountain landscape - reality and longings become inextricably intertwined on his visually stunning journey. With "The Maddock Manifesto", Dimitri Stapfer (director) and Benjamin Burger (book and acting) create an enigmatic cinematic trip - A modern fable about loneliness and the desire for change.
