On display are both well-known works as well as sketches, drawings and diary pages presented to the public for the first time. The exhibition highlights five decades of artistic creation between Basel and Paris - from portraits and travel scenes to intimate observations of everyday life. A highlight is the monumental design for the tapestry of the Basel registry office, which is being shown here for the first time. The exhibition is complemented by a varied supporting program, a publication and a film produced especially for the exhibition, inviting visitors to rediscover Zurkinden as a visionary, pioneering artist of the 20th century.
