In search of his homeland, a displaced man wanders through the ruins of the 20th century. In his encounters with various collectives, he learns of the injustices of his era, of political resistance and its oppression. Nono's first stage work was written in 1961 as a confessional indictment of exploitation and violence. In Benedikt von Peter's production, the audience mingles with the chorus and thus becomes part of a collective experience. The orchestra, invisibly distributed in the stage space, turns Nono's expressive score into a sound-theatrical experience.
