Gelsomina is funny, clever and doesn't like rules. If she does, she makes her own. Her boyfriend thinks he knows how theater works, what is appropriate and what is not. But Gelsomina turns these ideas upside down. Together they discover that the stage is much more than a black hole with curtains: an ingenious magic box with endless possibilities for daring acrobatics, versatile dancers and clownish characters. In this imaginative family piece, Swiss multi-artist Martin Zimmermann lets two circus performers meet the Basel Ballet Ensemble and takes us into a visually powerful, fellinesque universe.
