Is there anyone who doesn’t know the great Roman general Gaius Julius Caesar, who subdued the local tribes in this region during the Gallic War and played a crucial part in the development of the Rhine Basin? The exhibition turns the spotlight on the relationship between the advanced civilization of the Mediterranean and the local Gallic and Germanic tribes to left and right of the Rhine. The river itself acts as a central theme, setting the scene for the various aspects of this contact.
