Ausstellung Fantasie
Museum im Bürgerhaus
4133 Pratteln
An exhibition to participate and discover in the realm of imagination, sensory perception, stories and creativity. With paintings, sculptures, short films and audios realized by children.
Event details
What is fantasy? What images arise in the mind when we close our eyes? What do we need to be imaginative? The new exhibition at the Bürgerhaus, local museum of Pratteln in the Baselbiet region takes visitors on an interactive journey of discovery into the realm of the senses, imagination, creativity, art and stories. Visitors will encounter original works by children from schools and kindergartens - from paintings, sculptures and tactile boxes to short films and fantasy podcasts - and are invited to become active themselves, whether with the Sorgenfresser or Wunschtier, the Wheel of Questions or the creative station, which allows a mural to grow along with the child.
With time and space for imagination, things can be seen and designed in a completely different way. Imagination is the motor for innovation and can open up new worlds. The exhibition in the Bürgerhaus Pratteln invites you on a journey of discovery through the realm of imagination, sensory perception, stories and creativity. It leads to mythical creatures and enigmatic objects and fantastic pictures, landscape and tactile boxes and sculptures realized by children from Prattler schools and kindergartens to short films and fantasy podcasts.
It is allowed to boldly reach into the creative haptic boxes or turn the fantasy wheel of questions. Do the flowers smell like they look, do the beans taste like their color, and what is there to see in the wishing well? On seat cushions and in the magic cave it can be relaxed wonderfully to the end. The Sorgenfresser eats the worries and the Wunschtier fulfills the wishes of the small and large museum visitors.
The exhibition presents a colorful mix of realized projects and works and transforms the museum into a place of experience. The exhibition was realized by Bürgerhaus Pratteln and Studio Streberle from Basel and is a participatory project with over 100 children from Prattler school classes and kindergartens.

Theme stations
Four theme stations highlight aspects of the human imagination in an entertaining and interactive way. It starts with creativity and a huge mural, which may be co-designed multimedia. At a magical infinite wishing well, the focus then turns to psychological aspects and imagination. It continues with the focus on perception and mindfulness - fragrant flowers and beans of all flavors included. Finally, there is the topic of stories, from fantasy in literature to mythical creatures - with a reading corner and magnetic word poetry.
Student projects
Over 100 children from 6 different classes and kindergartens participated in the exhibition, contributing their ideas and creativity. The result is a diverse mix of pictures, sculptures, diorama and haptic boxes to marvel at and touch, film and audio projects.
Artistically, one project was dedicated to the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and painted imaginative cityscapes, while another class creatively painted five Prattler legends in large pictures - once close to reality and once in reference to the artist Paul Klee. A kindergarten wove a large colorful tapestry on which the emotional dolls in the film flew to the Wonder Castle.
Creative figures and monsters with funny names were created in a kindergarten, and sixth-graders devoted themselves to a conversation in the form of a podcast on the subject of fantasy.
Photos from Pratteln
Which places in Pratteln inspire the imagination? And even more: how do photos and pictures taken in Pratteln stimulate our imagination? Markus Dalcher pursued these questions and shows in impressive pictures what remains hidden at first glance. Diving into the pictures opens up new perspectives
Object wall
In the back of the exhibition, behind the object wall, there is a small cave. There, the little ones can relax, feel fabrics and listen to something in peace. But what do the little houses in the object wall show? Surely one or the other object can be found, which awakens memories or inspires to chat. Here we are talking about playful, figurative and fabulous, but also mysterious and inventions that may have long been forgotten. Two highlights are a unicorn silk ribbon and a dragon playstone from Archaeology Baselland.
