Experience Basel from a unique perspective on a Weidling cruise. The traditional Weidling, a historic wooden boat, has been used for centuries for travelling on the Rhine. The Waidlig Basilea association offers organised excursions that bring this tradition to life.

Waidlig Basilea conducts guided city tours on the Rhine during which guests learn fascinating facts about the boat’s history and function. If you would like to try rowing and “Stacheln” (the traditional method of rowing using a spike or a “Stachel”) yourself, you can take part in a practical introduction. Individual trips as well as half-day and day trips are also possible, which can be organised depending on interest.

The cruises allow you to slow down on the Rhine and offer a unique opportunity to get to know Basel and its surroundings from the water.
