Magical Courtyard Bürgergemeinde

The Citizens’ Municipality of Basel is bringing the forest into the city centre! Fresh-smelling fir trees, finely networked branches, numerous lights and decorative lighting elements transform the courtyard into a cosy forest landscape. Comfortable seating areas offer space to linger. At the centre of this magical forest is a historic oval fountain decorated with a light arc made of fir twigs.

The Milchhüsli beider Basel serves regional delicacies such as raclette from its own cheese dairy, hot mulled cider and wine, punch, coffee, local white wine, soft drinks and small sweets in the specially built pop-up wooden hut at the edge of the courtyard.

Christmas events such as the fairytale evening “A Fairytale in the Magical Forest” or “Cheese-Making Demonstration with the Milchhüsli beider Basel” round off the experience.

Guests of all ages can listen to a story under a starry sky and get in the mood for Christmas on a fairytale evening in the magical courtyard of the Citizens’ Municipality. At the end of the story, all participants can take a small gift from the historic fountain and, with a little luck, win something. Free admission, no registration required
