Not quite a piano trio, nor a string quartet, nor a wind quintet, but a combination of all three: that’s Camerata Variabile.
Instead of a fixed ensemble, their model is based on a varying line-up that allows for all possible combinations from solo performances to nonets. This provides the group with a plethora of options when designing their music programme – a programme that won them an award at the Internationale Bodenseekonferenz in 2020.
The ensemble plays not only famous compositions from the repertoire and rarely performed pieces of chamber music, but also outstanding works of the twentieth century. Camerata Variabile also places great emphasis on commissioning works by Swiss composers.
