Here is where the true professionals of street art show what they can do. This area is considered a classic among Europe’s street art fans. Innumerable prominent street artists of the 1980s have immortalized themselves along the railway lines from the Swiss Railway Station east toward the Schwarzwaldbrücke. You will find the best view of these art works in Singerstrasse in the southern part of this stretch of railway line.

Anyone arriving in Basel by train passes by colourful lettering just before entering the station. Since the 1980s, the area between Basel's main station and almost as far as the Schwarzwaldbrücke has featured works by countless graffiti artists from all over Europe. Basel's "Line" is both famous and infamous in the international graffiti scene, and artists risk their necks here in order to paint their texts so close to the railway tracks. But it's not dangerous to admire the art: the best view of the colourful stretch of railway line is from Singerstrasse, the Gellert bridge or St. Albanteich-Promenade.
