His landscapes are legendary, the colours cool, his painting iconic. Edward Hopper (1882 – 1967) is without a doubt one of the most important American artists of the 20th century. Fondation Beyeler – the most frequently visited art gallery in Switzerland – is devoting its spring exhibition to him. It comprises Hopper's watercolours and oil paintings from the 1910s to the 1960s and presents his many artistic facets.
