Built between 1925 and 1927 by architect Karl Moser, the church in the St. Johann district was Switzerland's first concrete place of worship, built from unfinished exposed concrete.

Although often mockingly referred to as "the soul silo" initially, the striking building is now considered an architectural highlight. The 62-metre-high church tower can be seen for miles around.
