Form meets function – guided tour of the FHNW Muttenz Campus

The FHNW Muttenz Campus, created by the renowned architectural firm Pool Architekten, is an architectural masterpiece that impresses with its striking cube-like shape (64.5 × 72 × 64.5 metres) and innovative interior design. This distinctive building forms the eastern end of the Muttenz business park and is located right next to the railway tracks of the Basel-Muttenz marshalling yard – one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

With the FHNW Muttenz Campus, Pool Architekten has designed a new type of university – the vertical campus. The various schools are efficiently stacked on top of each other above the classrooms and libraries.

Behind the eye-catching anodized aluminium facade cladding, you can gain an insight into one of the most modern university locations in Switzerland, which combines five schools on 15 floors under one roof. Starting in the spacious atrium, which extends over several floors, the tour takes you up to the lounge on the 12th floor. You’ll get to see the lecture halls, discover how the building works and touch the Dreamer – a fascinating work of art weighing over 100 tonnes by Swiss artist Katja Schenker.

Tours ending after 6.00 pm are subject to an evening surcharge of CHF 60.
