The city orphanage in the former Carthusian Monastery

The last monastery to be established in Basel before the Reformation, the Kartause was founded by senior guild master Jakob Zibol and inhabited by Carthusian monks. This complex on the Kleinbasel side of the Wettsteinbrücke still sets a special accent as a model of urban development.
