Markets

Christmas Market
In the heart of the city centre, ensconced in the pre-Christmas decorations in the Old Town, is the oldest Christmas market in Switzerland. At around 120 brightly lit stalls and wooden houses, dealers and handicraft workers from across Switzerland and the region offer their wares from the end of November until Christmas.

City market
Near to the Rhine, at the Schifflände on the Grossbasel side, we find the Marktplatz and Town Hall. A visit is really worthwhile: On beautiful days the market is a magnificently colourful experience, with sweets and spices in abundance. Here we find vegetables and fruit, flowers, meats, mushrooms, honey, wine, coffee, dry goods, breads, handicraft products, tea, etc. Basel Market has been around a long time, and is integrated in an exclusive business area. On and around the market, gourmets will find many delicacies and specialities from the region, Switzerland and the rest of the world.
