Basler Gesangverein

With a history reaching back more than 180 years, the BGV has a great tradition in the musical life of Basel.

Its aim is to perform at least two important choral works each year at a qualitatively high level. It presents frequently and rarely played works of classical and contemporary music in equal measure. This broad-based programme is set to continue.

As a rule, the performances of the BGV are held in Basel Cathedral or in the Great Music Room of the City Casino. As a concert choir, only the BGV enjoys the right to give regular guest performances in the Cathedral.
