Roman Town of Augusta Raurica

Public buildings can be looked at and admired here as much as the more modest private dwellings.
The theatre, which has never been built over, still has 50 rows of seats. Masonry and heating techniques can be studied in a house at the original excavation site.

Descending into an underground pump room reveals an unusual wedge-shaped stone vault, while a walk through a 100 m long sewer highlights the ingeniously designed infrastructure of a Roman town.
